Summer Lovin, Had Me a Blast!

Hey there...it's that time of the week again, so I'm sitting down to write my Blog and get ready for another week!  Things have been so busy (partly because work is busy, and partly because we're having too much fun), but I wanted to take a second to catch y'all up to speed...

Last week was Veronica's birthday, so we turned the weekend into a celebration, starting with a Happy Hour in V's honor!  Also, to celebrate in style, Seth, Veronica, Audrey, Tensie, and I headed to National Harbor for the Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ Festival (delicious by the way!)  After the festival (and a little nap), we went to Rosa Mexicano for some more food and drinks...and even got to hear the Pops Orchestra playing from our table on the patio!

In other news...Seth and I have a big announcement: we have a new addition! Her name is Maggie J., another Basenji mix.  It kind of happened quickly - I got home one night and Seth had decided he wanted to get another dog...and he had already picked her out!  So, before we knew it, we were off to pick up Maggie to bring her home....and she has fit in so well, especially with her sister :)  We can't wait for you all to meet her...so come visit soon!

As if our social schedule wasn't keeping us busy enough...there is a little thing called work :)  I can't believe I'm now officially on the downhill side of the summer...time sure flies!

Well, that's about all she wrote for now!  Summer has been great so far, but it's also tiring me out...so it's time for bed - good night, and have a great week!

Another Day, Another Dollar

Hello there!  I'm sorry this has been a bit delayed, but between work and everything, life has been busy busy busy!!!  Being busy is actually a good thing though, because time really does fly by - it's hard to believe we are almost done with our 4th week at the firm!

Speaking of work, I have been really luck to have had a lot of really interesting assignments under the supervision of some amazing attorneys.  Our firm is full of great people, and the Recruiting Department makes sure we have a good time on top of all the hard work!  In fact, we usually have an activity at least once a week to take a break and get to know each other.  So far, we've had a welcome cocktail party to meet the other attorneys, played trivia as part of a game night, gone on a crab-boat cruise, watched a National's game from box seats, and celebrated the firm's 50th Anniversary with a party at the Washington Golf and Country Club...and lots more fun (and of course, hard work in between!) to come!

Me and the other Summers at the National's game with Screech!

Cassandra, Sunitha, Sally, and I on the crab-boat cruise...fun!
Aside from work, we are keeping busy with fun-filled weekends!  Two weekends ago we went to a wine festival in Virginia and camped overnight to enjoy the beautiful weather.  And this past weekend was the Capital Pride Festival...and boy did we have a good time!  We had people over before heading down to the parade...and then came back to our place...before heading out to dance the night away!  The next day?  Recovery by the pool with Seth and Veronica :)

Well, that's about all she wrote for tonight...but more to come soon!  Much love until then :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!  Seth and I spent today getting ready for the week, followed by a wonderful BBQ with our friends...there is no better way to celebrate!

The gang playing flip cup, a fun little game :)

Although the day was spent having fun with our friends, we made sure to play "God Bless the U.S.A." to really remember why we celebrate Memorial Day :)  Thanks to all of our soldiers past and present, and God Bless America!

It's Official: Summer is HERE!

Hello again!  This message comes to you from 30,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean…Seth and I are on board our flight back to D.C., so I am making the best use of my time and writing my Blog for you J

But…before I start talking about all the fun, let me first tell you about week one of my new job!  I began work on Monday and absolutely LOVE my firm and all my coworkers!!!  I’ve kept busy and am ready for an extra day off tomorrow to rest up…I’ve been getting up every day at 6:00 to go to the gym and get to work early, and usually get home around 8:00, so you can see it’s been bu-say!!!  The first week was very heavy on training, but I really feel prepared and am ready to work and prove myself!  In addition to the work, the firm also makes sure that the summer associates enjoy their time at the firm by taking extra special care of us…a.k.a. my waistline may be expanding J  I’m so grateful for the opportunity and look forward to a wonderful summer…and hopefully many years more to follow J

Friday, in honor of Memorial Day weekend, we closed early, which means I got out of the office just in time to hop on the Metro and head to meet Seth at his office so that we could head to the airport!  This weekend my friend Jen graduated from Optometry school in Ft. Lauderdale, so we flew down to celebrate.  We got in Friday night just in time to make it to the big party for Jen (and her other best friend, Mike) before heading out on the town for some good times!

Jen and I, the morning after!

Saturday morning we got up and met Andre, who hung out part of the day with us as we enjoyed the beach and holiday festivities.  There were live bands, street vendors, etc… that were part of the Memorial Day beach party.  I joked with Andre and Jen that I would probably have failed out of law school if I had gone to school in Florida…it’s too nice to ever want to leave the beach and actually work!  After soaking up the sun, we cleaned up and got ready for more fun!  Later that night we met with Jen’s family for a celebratory dinner before heading downtown to meet Andre, who showed us his stomping grounds.

Me and Seth enjoying food, sun, and fun!

Andre and I in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

Sunday morning we picked up Andre and headed to the W hotel for a beachside brunch.  It was good food and good company and we’re glad that we finally got to spend some time with Andre on his turf…we even got to see his dog, Zeppelin, who was as excitable as Honey J  After brunch, we said our goodbyes and headed off to the Bank Atlantic Center for Jen’s graduation.  I am so proud of her and can’t believe she is officially a doctor…crazy!  She will be great, and I’m glad that I can now get free eye care J  Shortly after Jen crossed the stage and got her diploma, Seth and I bid the Idoni family adieu and ran to the airport to catch our flight!

Congratulations, Dr. Jen!

After a whirlwind of a weekend, it will be nice to be home, get some rest, and enjoy a fun Memorial Day with our friends tomorrow…but that’s a story for another day J Much love and many hugs until then!

Congratulations, Chrys!!!

Hi again!  I can’t believe that summer is officially here and my first day of work is tomorrow – time sure flies when you’re having fun!  In fact, I had so much fun playing housewife that I told Seth I could get used to it and threatened to make it a reality J  The week was busy with errands and playing catch up from a month of letting things fall by the wayside during exams, but I did have some time to sit on the couch, prop my feet up, all while drinking my morning cup of Joe and watching Live with Kelly J

I digress.  This weekend was a fun, whirlwind of a weekend in Ohio!  Friday I got up and packed our bags so that we were ready to roll when Seth got off work and then met my friend Cody for lunch (he actually housesat for us over the weekend).   After lunch and window shopping, Cody dropped me off at Bethesda Row Mall where I got in line to have Andy Cohen (from Bravo/Real Housewives series) sign his new book.  I met Andy at the GLAAD Awards last year, but my cousin Chrys (the graduate of honor this weekend!) also really likes him, so I got a book signed for her for her present J  And a bonus: some of the DC housewives were there to greet us (I’m so sad they got cancelled because I would have totally wormed my way into the show hehe)

Me and Cody

Me and Andy Cohen

Once the book was in hand, Seth and I headed off on the drive to Ohio and made it safely to our hotel in time to get just enough rest to keep us going for graduation day!  Chrys, who graduated with her Master’s in Organizational Leadership, was a happy camper and got extra applause from her fan club as she crossed the stage (congrats, Cous!!!)  After graduation, we all went to lunch at this deee-lish Italian place nearby and then headed back to Chrys and Tom’s for some family time (accompanied by piano/singing performances by Riley, Chrys’ daughter).  After some ice cream and leftovers, we headed back to the hotel to get some much needed rest!

Chrys loved her book - yay!

This morning, we met the fam at Mayberry diner (yes, like Andy Griffith Mayberry, and boy are there similarities!) for a late breakfast and some goodbyes.  As we were leaving, someone must really have wanted us to stay, because we had a little fender bender with Mom’s car  J  Luckily, we were parked and there wasn’t any major damage….but it sure was worth a good laugh…which lasted for the first few hours of the trip home hehehe!

Now we’re home sweet home and it’s time for bed…I have a long first day ahead of me tomorrow…wish me luck!!!

Two Down, One to Go!!!

Hello again!  It's been a while, but I'm back in action and ready to Blog!!!  I hate playing catch-up, so I'll let the pictures tell most of the story :)  But first things first: EXAMS ARE OVER!!!  It sure was a crazy few weeks, but I think (hope) my hard work paid off!  I'm SO glad to have 2L behind me, and am amazed that there is only one year to go...crazy!  Anyway, much more to come this weekend (we are off to Ohio to celebrate my cousin Chrys' graduation from her Master's Program)...but until then, here's the last week or so in pictures :)

How else to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with homemade margaritas...

Oh, annnd homemade guacamole too!  Yum!

Congratulations Brooke, my little graduate!

A Quick (and Boring) Update

Hey all!  Just so you all know I'm still alive and kicking, I figured I'd give a quick shootout to say hello :)  I'm about halfway done with Exams - 10 days left until freedom and summer officially begins!  I'm actually really excited for this summer, Seth and I (and our girlfriends/wifeys) have lots of fun planned... but first I have to finish up these pesky exams!  So far, I'm done with one exam and one project, and have two exams left and one presentation to make...so keep me in your prayers, and pray for an A!  :)  Other than that, life has been pretty low key, so I will try to spruce it up with some pics...but until the next time - much love and xoxo's!

Honey's glad that Daddy is home studying, but thinks I am boring!
