End of Summer in Bear Lake & Utah

Hello again!  It's been a while since I last blogged, but lots has happened, so I need to get on it :)

I last left you preparing for our trip to Utah...and boy what a trip it was!  Seth and I flew to SLC two Fridays ago, whereby we flew in and directly hopped in a car to drive up to Bear Lake for a fun-filled weekend with the family in cabin by the lake!  All of the family (except Jack, who wasn't felling up to the trip) was there and we had a great time - from soaking up the sun, to eating (a TON!), to playing on the water, the trip was perfect!  In fact, the trip was even more fun the we had originally planned because, to our surprise, Jay (Seth's brother) secretly bought a boat and brought it with him...SO FUN!!!  Sadly, it really is true what they say: time flies when you're having fun, because before we knew it, Monday had rolled around and it was back to Salt Lake.

After getting back to the city, Seth and I spent some quality time with the fam, as well as enjoyed playing catch up with our friends (along with some food and fun/dancing, of course!)  The weekend before we headed home, Seth and I were lucky enough to have timed our visit right so that we were in town for Dan's (my next door roommate my Freshman year at BYU) wedding reception...so happy for him - and excited that he is moving to Virginia for a new job!  Finally, to wrap up the trip, we went with Mindy, Chrissy, and chillins to the Zoo, followed by a farewell dinner at La Puente (the family staple!)

We finally got to taste our wedding cake...1 year later!
Well, that's about all I've got for now...it's time for bed...and I need to get in it and get some rest, because summer has officially come to an end and school is back in session!!!  More to come soon, but much love and gratitude for each and every one of you until then :)

PS: The picture below was made on PrintMosaic.com, and is a mosaic of me, Seth, and Rev. Anita at the alter that is made up of our wedding pictures :)  Enjoy, and go make one of your own!

(Almost) End of Summer Update

Hi all - long time, no see...but I'm back in action and ready for a quick but EXCITING update :)

The last time I updated the Blog was heading into my last two weeks of work.  Well, my last bit at the office was busy and chocked full of fun, goodbyes, and worrrkkk!!!  Luckily for me, it all turned out well and last Thursday I was officially given an offer to return in fall of 2013 to start full-time employment as a full-fledged attorney.  All that stands in the way now if a year of school and that pesky bar exam...the first part of which I actually take on Friday!  If you'd like more information on the firm, please visit our website at: http://www.pattonboggs.com/.  I'm beyond thrilled to be at such an amazing place (voted the #3 law firm in the entire country to work for!!!) and will keep you updated about everything as things move along.

Other than that, its been a fairly uneventful few weeks other than celebrating our one-year anniversary and spending time with friends :)  But never fear, that's all about to change as we head off to Utah this Friday to wrap up our last few days of summer before school is back in session!  Until then, much love!!!

I love my lil' family :)

Carly Comes to Town

Hi there!  Well, another busy week and times just keeps flying!  And this week was no different...in fact it flew by quicker than we would have hoped...because our friend Carly came to visit and is already gone :(

Carly, a mutual friend of ours from Utah, flew in on Wednesday night for a pharmacy conference...but lucky for us she stayed at Hotel Longhurst-Roman!  On Thursday, Seth worked from home (I had to go in to the office) and got to have lunch downtown with Carly...and they sent me pictures to make me extra jealous! :)  It was really nice to see a familiar face from Utah, and we got extra excited for our trip out west in three weeks!!!

As you will see by the pictures below, we had a fun weekend!  On Thursday, we took Carly to Ping Pong for a wonderful outdoor happy hour before calling it an early night (since we all had to get up in the morning).  Friday night we headed to Old Town Alexandria to meet Mom and Dad for dinner at our go to, Il Porto.  It's always fun to visit, especially when the weather is nice and you can walk by the pier.  On Saturday, we went to my friend Sunitha's brunch before cleaning up for a little get together at the casa.  Veronica and Tensie came over to meet Carly and head out for a night on the town...including A LOT of dancing - yay!  This morning we got up and took Carly to the aiprort and have enjoyed a day of playing catch up and gettin 'er done :)

Well, that's about all for now...it's time to lay out my clothes for tomorrow and get my beauty sleep....hasta la vista baby!

Summer Time in the City

Hello again!  It seems as if I've been really struggling to get these updates done every weekend, but here goes nothing!

Between work and activities, it's been buuu-sayyy!  But busy doesn't mean there isn't room for a little fun in between (maybe no sleep, but certainly time for fun!)  In fact, sometimes a little bit of work gets mixed with a little bit of play...like two weekends ago when Dad, Seth, and I packed into the car and drove to Connecticut for my niece, Marialyse's, graduation.  It was a fun weekend getting to see all of the family and I'm glad we were able to make it!  Congratulations, Marialyse!

Marita, Me, and Marissa

Speaking of fun, last week was great because we had a mid-week holiday to celebrate the 4th of July. We spent the day BBQ'ing and soaking up some sun at Veronica and Audrey's.  To really show our patriotic spirit we ran up to the local market and bought some fireworks for our big finale :)

As a matter of fact, given that the 4th of July is now almost a week behind us, it's hard to believe how quickly the summer is passing...it will be done before we know it!  And work will be done even sooner - and that makes me so sad, because I really am loving it so much!!!  But since time is passing by quickly, we are continuing to make the most of it by filling our weekends with a good brunch, pool time, and fun nights with friends :)

Tensie, Brooke, Matt, Audrey, Me, and Seth at brunch.

Me, Seth, Brooke, and Emily out on the town in Old Town.

Well, that's about all I have time for tonight...RuPaul's Drag U is wrapping up and I have to get some beauty rest...because as you will see below, I'm up with the sun every day :)

Summer Lovin, Had Me a Blast!

Hey there...it's that time of the week again, so I'm sitting down to write my Blog and get ready for another week!  Things have been so busy (partly because work is busy, and partly because we're having too much fun), but I wanted to take a second to catch y'all up to speed...

Last week was Veronica's birthday, so we turned the weekend into a celebration, starting with a Happy Hour in V's honor!  Also, to celebrate in style, Seth, Veronica, Audrey, Tensie, and I headed to National Harbor for the Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ Festival (delicious by the way!)  After the festival (and a little nap), we went to Rosa Mexicano for some more food and drinks...and even got to hear the Pops Orchestra playing from our table on the patio!

In other news...Seth and I have a big announcement: we have a new addition! Her name is Maggie J., another Basenji mix.  It kind of happened quickly - I got home one night and Seth had decided he wanted to get another dog...and he had already picked her out!  So, before we knew it, we were off to pick up Maggie to bring her home....and she has fit in so well, especially with her sister :)  We can't wait for you all to meet her...so come visit soon!

As if our social schedule wasn't keeping us busy enough...there is a little thing called work :)  I can't believe I'm now officially on the downhill side of the summer...time sure flies!

Me, Cassandra, and Beth in the party bus headed to the Nats game.

Our summer class on Seersucker Day!

Well, that's about all she wrote for now!  Summer has been great so far, but it's also tiring me out...so it's time for bed - good night, and have a great week!

Another Day, Another Dollar

Hello there!  I'm sorry this has been a bit delayed, but between work and everything, life has been busy busy busy!!!  Being busy is actually a good thing though, because time really does fly by - it's hard to believe we are almost done with our 4th week at the firm!

Speaking of work, I have been really luck to have had a lot of really interesting assignments under the supervision of some amazing attorneys.  Our firm is full of great people, and the Recruiting Department makes sure we have a good time on top of all the hard work!  In fact, we usually have an activity at least once a week to take a break and get to know each other.  So far, we've had a welcome cocktail party to meet the other attorneys, played trivia as part of a game night, gone on a crab-boat cruise, watched a National's game from box seats, and celebrated the firm's 50th Anniversary with a party at the Washington Golf and Country Club...and lots more fun (and of course, hard work in between!) to come!

Me and the other Summers at the National's game with Screech!

Cassandra, Sunitha, Sally, and I on the crab-boat cruise...fun!
Aside from work, we are keeping busy with fun-filled weekends!  Two weekends ago we went to a wine festival in Virginia and camped overnight to enjoy the beautiful weather.  And this past weekend was the Capital Pride Festival...and boy did we have a good time!  We had people over before heading down to the parade...and then came back to our place...before heading out to dance the night away!  The next day?  Recovery by the pool with Seth and Veronica :)

Well, that's about all she wrote for tonight...but more to come soon!  Much love until then :)

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!  Seth and I spent today getting ready for the week, followed by a wonderful BBQ with our friends...there is no better way to celebrate!

The gang playing flip cup, a fun little game :)

Although the day was spent having fun with our friends, we made sure to play "God Bless the U.S.A." to really remember why we celebrate Memorial Day :)  Thanks to all of our soldiers past and present, and God Bless America!
