Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!  Seth and I spent today getting ready for the week, followed by a wonderful BBQ with our friends...there is no better way to celebrate!

The gang playing flip cup, a fun little game :)

Although the day was spent having fun with our friends, we made sure to play "God Bless the U.S.A." to really remember why we celebrate Memorial Day :)  Thanks to all of our soldiers past and present, and God Bless America!

It's Official: Summer is HERE!

Hello again!  This message comes to you from 30,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean…Seth and I are on board our flight back to D.C., so I am making the best use of my time and writing my Blog for you J

But…before I start talking about all the fun, let me first tell you about week one of my new job!  I began work on Monday and absolutely LOVE my firm and all my coworkers!!!  I’ve kept busy and am ready for an extra day off tomorrow to rest up…I’ve been getting up every day at 6:00 to go to the gym and get to work early, and usually get home around 8:00, so you can see it’s been bu-say!!!  The first week was very heavy on training, but I really feel prepared and am ready to work and prove myself!  In addition to the work, the firm also makes sure that the summer associates enjoy their time at the firm by taking extra special care of us…a.k.a. my waistline may be expanding J  I’m so grateful for the opportunity and look forward to a wonderful summer…and hopefully many years more to follow J

Friday, in honor of Memorial Day weekend, we closed early, which means I got out of the office just in time to hop on the Metro and head to meet Seth at his office so that we could head to the airport!  This weekend my friend Jen graduated from Optometry school in Ft. Lauderdale, so we flew down to celebrate.  We got in Friday night just in time to make it to the big party for Jen (and her other best friend, Mike) before heading out on the town for some good times!

Jen and I, the morning after!

Saturday morning we got up and met Andre, who hung out part of the day with us as we enjoyed the beach and holiday festivities.  There were live bands, street vendors, etc… that were part of the Memorial Day beach party.  I joked with Andre and Jen that I would probably have failed out of law school if I had gone to school in Florida…it’s too nice to ever want to leave the beach and actually work!  After soaking up the sun, we cleaned up and got ready for more fun!  Later that night we met with Jen’s family for a celebratory dinner before heading downtown to meet Andre, who showed us his stomping grounds.

Me and Seth enjoying food, sun, and fun!

Sunday morning we picked up Andre and headed to the W hotel for a beachside brunch.  It was good food and good company and we’re glad that we finally got to spend some time with Andre on his turf…we even got to see his dog, Zeppelin, who was as excitable as Honey J  After brunch, we said our goodbyes and headed off to the Bank Atlantic Center for Jen’s graduation.  I am so proud of her and can’t believe she is officially a doctor…crazy!  She will be great, and I’m glad that I can now get free eye care J  Shortly after Jen crossed the stage and got her diploma, Seth and I bid the Idoni family adieu and ran to the airport to catch our flight!

Congratulations, Dr. Jen!

After a whirlwind of a weekend, it will be nice to be home, get some rest, and enjoy a fun Memorial Day with our friends tomorrow…but that’s a story for another day J Much love and many hugs until then!

Congratulations, Chrys!!!

Hi again!  I can’t believe that summer is officially here and my first day of work is tomorrow – time sure flies when you’re having fun!  In fact, I had so much fun playing housewife that I told Seth I could get used to it and threatened to make it a reality J  The week was busy with errands and playing catch up from a month of letting things fall by the wayside during exams, but I did have some time to sit on the couch, prop my feet up, all while drinking my morning cup of Joe and watching Live with Kelly J

I digress.  This weekend was a fun, whirlwind of a weekend in Ohio!  Friday I got up and packed our bags so that we were ready to roll when Seth got off work and then met my friend Cody for lunch (he actually housesat for us over the weekend).   After lunch and window shopping, Cody dropped me off at Bethesda Row Mall where I got in line to have Andy Cohen (from Bravo/Real Housewives series) sign his new book.  I met Andy at the GLAAD Awards last year, but my cousin Chrys (the graduate of honor this weekend!) also really likes him, so I got a book signed for her for her present J  And a bonus: some of the DC housewives were there to greet us (I’m so sad they got cancelled because I would have totally wormed my way into the show hehe)

Once the book was in hand, Seth and I headed off on the drive to Ohio and made it safely to our hotel in time to get just enough rest to keep us going for graduation day!  Chrys, who graduated with her Master’s in Organizational Leadership, was a happy camper and got extra applause from her fan club as she crossed the stage (congrats, Cous!!!)  After graduation, we all went to lunch at this deee-lish Italian place nearby and then headed back to Chrys and Tom’s for some family time (accompanied by piano/singing performances by Riley, Chrys’ daughter).  After some ice cream and leftovers, we headed back to the hotel to get some much needed rest!

Chrys loved her book - yay!

This morning, we met the fam at Mayberry diner (yes, like Andy Griffith Mayberry, and boy are there similarities!) for a late breakfast and some goodbyes.  As we were leaving, someone must really have wanted us to stay, because we had a little fender bender with Mom’s car  J  Luckily, we were parked and there wasn’t any major damage….but it sure was worth a good laugh…which lasted for the first few hours of the trip home hehehe!

Now we’re home sweet home and it’s time for bed…I have a long first day ahead of me tomorrow…wish me luck!!!

Two Down, One to Go!!!

Hello again!  It's been a while, but I'm back in action and ready to Blog!!!  I hate playing catch-up, so I'll let the pictures tell most of the story :)  But first things first: EXAMS ARE OVER!!!  It sure was a crazy few weeks, but I think (hope) my hard work paid off!  I'm SO glad to have 2L behind me, and am amazed that there is only one year to go...crazy!  Anyway, much more to come this weekend (we are off to Ohio to celebrate my cousin Chrys' graduation from her Master's Program)...but until then, here's the last week or so in pictures :)

How else to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with homemade margaritas...

Oh, annnd homemade guacamole too!  Yum!

Congratulations Brooke, my little graduate!

A Quick (and Boring) Update

Hey all!  Just so you all know I'm still alive and kicking, I figured I'd give a quick shootout to say hello :)  I'm about halfway done with Exams - 10 days left until freedom and summer officially begins!  I'm actually really excited for this summer, Seth and I (and our girlfriends/wifeys) have lots of fun planned... but first I have to finish up these pesky exams!  So far, I'm done with one exam and one project, and have two exams left and one presentation to make...so keep me in your prayers, and pray for an A!  :)  Other than that, life has been pretty low key, so I will try to spruce it up with some pics...but until the next time - much love and xoxo's!

Honey's glad that Daddy is home studying, but thinks I am boring!

2 Weeks and Many Miles Later

Howdy y'all!  It's been a busy/crazy couple of weeks, so I'm gonna try to fit it all into one Blog post :)

As school winds down, exam prep is ramping up and the real studying begins!  Luckily for me my Mondays and Wednesdays are now free since I am officially finished working at HRC.  As a matter of fact, my supervising attorneys actually threw a farewell party for me and the other law fellow to bid us adieu - it was very sweet of them!  With one job done, I'm also making sure to seek the advice all of the wonderful attorneys at Patton Boggs (the firm where I will be working this summer) as I prepare to (hopefully!) make a great impression and do good work!

In addition to the regular hoopla, it's been a month of birthdays!  As I mentioned last week, Seth turned the big 2-6 and we have been celebrating ever since :)  The weekend after his birthday, the festivities continued and we had a celebration with the VA fam: lunch, shopping, and cake!  As soon as that hullaballoo was done, we ran back to the city to host a pre-party for our friend Daniel's birthday and then headed out for his party...which consisted of a stretch Hummer limo that took us around the town...TOO much fun!  In fact, we had so much fun that we followed it up with brunch on Sunday...amazing!!!

In the stretch Hummer...good times!

This was the BEST Drag Queen Brunch yet!
Also, for those of you who aren't aware, this past weekend my friend Jen and I ran in the Bull Run 50-Miler (yes, as in five-zero!)  Jen flew in from Florida on Friday morning and boy was it an adventure.  We spent Friday getting prepared for the race (yay for an excuse to eat tons of carbs!) and then got up at 4:30 AM on Saturday to make the drive to the trail!  Unfortunately for me, I hadn't had time to really get in the proper training...so I decided to stop around mile 30 :(  Fortunately for Jen, she had trained a little better and finished ALL FIFTY MILES!!!  To reward ourselves: Cici's all-you-can-eat pizza and Sunday brunch with the friends (all of whom came to cheer us on at the race!)  But don't worry, Jen and I are already searching out our next 50-miler...and who knows, maybe we will decide to run a 100-miler next :)

Our numbers for the Bull Run

Look at al the supplies you need for this race!

Me and Jen before the race (and so much happier haha!)
Well, between the studying (I promise, that is really what I do most...it's just no fun to read about), fun, and racing, I think that's about all I have the time and energy to write about :)  Until the next time (which might be a while since I'm about to be really boring for a few weeks!), much love and a bazilion hugs!
